The necklace displays a stylised whale, in plain form, which has been centrally set between the attached chain which is stamped ‘925’ for sterling silver. The reverse of the whale is hallmarked ‘GLS’, for Graham Leishman Stewart, sterling silver, Edinburgh, 1992.
The necklace comes in its original dark green box, with gilt edging, which has been printed with Graham Stewart’s name in gold on the underside of the lid.
Graham Leishman Stewart was one of Scotland’s foremost goldsmiths. His work can be found in numerous prestigious collections including the Scottish Parliament, Aberdeen Art Gallery, Blair Castle and the Royal Collection Trust to name a few. After graduating from Gray’s School of Art in Aberdeen, he established his own shop in Dunblane in 1978.
