A silver brooch consisting of three concentric circles. The inner one set with amber cabochon which sits within a decorative halo of oxidised silver, therefore providing a wonderfully dark contrast to the orange of the amber and the white of the silver. The reverse is stamped ‘N.E. From’ for Niels Erik From, ‘DANMARK’ for Denmark, and ‘925 S STERLING’ for sterling silver, together with a hinged pin and C-scroll safety clasp.
Niels Erik From (1908-1982) was a silversmith and designer who established his own workshop in 1931. His work encompassed natural forms and gemstones, as well as abstract shapes and clean lines. The business continued in the family after From’s death but came to a close in 1990.
