This modernist bangle takes its name from the mathematical Möbius Strip, or Band, which is an object with only one edge. It is marked ‘GEORG JENSEN’, ‘DENMARK’, ‘925’ for sterling silver, ‘206’ and ‘TORUN’ for Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe.
Georg Jensen (1866-1935) trained as a goldsmith and sculptor before establishing his own workshop in Copenhagen in 1904. He was influenced by nature and form, and his business (named after him) created highly original jewellery and silverware, which in turn pioneered 20th century Scandinavian design. The company continues to exist and is still internationally recognised today.
Vivianna Torun Bülow-Hübe (1927-2004) was an acclaimed Swedish jeweller and silversmith, who has been considered a trailblazer in modern jewellery design. She began collaborating with Georg Jensen in 1967.
