The pendant is of a stylised six petalled flower head, or star shape, with double arched borders set with smaller pearl flower heads. The centre has a round-cut facetted peridot, surrounded by a border of twelve seed pearls with milgrain collet settings. The lower point of the pendant has a delicate drop formed from an oval-cut facetted peridot with foliate and pearl detail. The whole pendant is suspended from a fine trace link chain to a quatrefoil bale and additional trace link chain. The reverse is marked ‘15ct.’
The necklace is contained in its original brown fitted box with gilt edging and a hinged lid. Inscribed to the interior silk lining is ‘Garrard & Co. Ltd, to H.M. The King, Calcutta and London’. In accordance with the box’s antique age, it shows some wear and it no longer closes securely due to the missing front button latch.
